Because the future is arriving faster than we’ve planned for. Sea levels are rising. Storms are intensifying. Shorelines are shifting. Marine ecosystems like the Salish Sea are under mounting pressure from industrial pressure, biodiversity loss, warming and acidification, pollution, and the weird and terrifying effects of climate change.
Communities are stuck in the middle of it, all without the support we need to stay safe. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
The climate crisis has always been about more than just the climate. It’s a crisis of equity, preparedness, political will, and, ultimately, democracy. Climate Ready Now! is about changing who decides. And who pays. It’s about building resilient communities, reclaiming democracy, and shaping what comes next. Together.

Make polluters pay
We’re bringing people together across British Columbia to organize, lead, and champion the big changes our communities need. We are launching this new campaign in partnership with Sue Big Oil, a campaign that is working towards bringing municipalities into a class action lawsuit to demand fair compensation for climate damages from those most responsible.
Together, we work cohesively to show local governments that communities have visions of just and sustainable futures, that we need to have decision making power over these futures, and that we have a plan to help pay for the costs of adaptation. We will work together to:
- Empower communities to increase their decision making power
- Advance real investments in community-led climate preparedness and resilience
- Support municipalities to act with urgency and ambition
- Build the public momentum needed to unlock large-scale climate action
- Ensure accountability for the costs of climate damage from Big Oil and those who contribute the most
- Show that change of this scale is possible
This is how we move from delay to readiness. From isolation and anxiety to collective care and action. From uncertainty to shared directions.
Because in a time of accelerating change, the most powerful response is not fear, but solidarity.
