It was so much fun to gather together again last month with our supporters at our 6th annual Oysters to Orcas fundraiser with our friends at Fanny Bay Oysters, Vancouver’s only tide-to-table oyster bar.
Supporters enjoyed a sustainable shellfish and seafood experience that took the form of a delectable four-course meal. They also heard from Tasha Romeyn and Simran Sarai, two of the co-founders of the youth-lead Year of the Salish Sea – an initiative that calls for increased collaboration to be a catalyst for institutional and cultural change for this region.
Tasha and Simran inspired the audience with their efforts to connect the public with the amazing work being done in the region to protect the Salish Sea, as well as with their vision for a healthy and sustainable region.
Did you know?
Ten governing bodies have passed “Year of the Salish Sea” motions, proclaiming June 8, 2022 to June 7, 2023 as the Year of the Salish Sea, including the cities of Vancouver, Victoria, Richmond, Port Moody, Powell River, Olympia, the Town of Gibsons, the Municipality of Bowen Island, the District of Squamish, and the Islands Trust Council.
Everyone at GSA would like to give a huge and heartfelt thanks to Fanny Bay Oysters and Taylor Shellfish for supplying the venue and the food, and for the amazing service. We also want to thank beverage sponsors Phillips Brewing Company, Golden Eagle Farms, Frind Estate Winery, Arterra Wines Canada and Roust. Their generosity greatly supports our efforts to protect the Salish Sea!
