As Executive Director of Georgia Strait Alliance, I’m all in for the Salish Sea.
I’m taking the plunge — literally — with a swim to raise critical funds for the protection of this amazing place and all the life and communities it sustains. I’m not just leading the work — I’m also a donor, because I believe in putting my heart, energy, and resources where they matter most.
This is my pledge for the Salish Sea:
🌊 To champion the Salish Sea with bold, courageous action
🌊 To support community-powered solutions for a thriving Salish Sea
🌊 To inspire others to dive in — literally or figuratively — for what we love
📅 Join me on July 27th, 2025, at 9:30 am (as the tide will be perfect!). I’ll be taking the plunge at the beach across from Memorial Crescent on Dallas Road. I will kick off things by donating $500, and I aim to raise $5000.

Whether you want to cheer me on, bring your community and take the plunge with me — we need you.
More about why I’m Doing This
I’m a newcomer to Canada, born and raised in Rome, Italy, where I spent my childhood swimming in the warm Mediterranean Sea. The ocean has always been part of me. Nearly 20 years ago, I arrived in Canada, and in 2015, I crossed the Salish Sea for the first time. I fell in love with its wild, untamed beauty and rich cultural and ecological legacy, stewarded by Coast Salish First Nations since time immemorial.
Now, I walk to the shoreline every day with my daughters (8 and 13) and our rescued dog. It’s a ritual that roots us in this place. I want my children to grow up with the same love, awe, and responsibility for the ocean that lives in me.
So to honour this connection — and to celebrate 35 years of Georgia Strait Alliance — I’m finally doing something I’ve avoided through 10 years of BC winters and summers: I’m going to swim in the Salish Sea….let’s be honest I will plunge!
Yes, in July. Yes, it’s still cold for an Italian now Canadian. But this plunge is my way of showing up — heart first — for the Salish Sea that now holds it.
Whether you want to support, cheer me on, take the plunge with me, or start your own challenge — we need you. Together, we can protect this place we call home. Because this place matters. Because we belong here. Because the Salish Sea needs us.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
