A warm welcome to Maithili Devadas who joins our team to continue GSA’s work on Biodiversity Protection in the Salish Sea.

Maithili grew up with a strong sense of responsibility to conserve the beauty and resilience of our planet. From an early age, she felt a profound connection to wildlife, and witnessing the loss of species and ecosystems deeply disturbed her. The proverb; “We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children” deeply resonates with Maithili, guiding her commitment to protect the natural world for future generations. She also feels a strong calling to support communities and recognizes the unique position she is in to make a difference.

With a passion for communication, advocacy, all things nature, and a strong desire to work with communities on-ground and inspire collaborative action, Maithili hopes to create a positive difference through her role as Biodiversity Campaigner at GSA.

Maithili has a background in conservation, and has completed her Masters in Conservation & Land Management and Forestry, respectively. In her time outside of work, you can find Maithili playing her ukulele, attempting to knit and catching up with friends and family back home in India.

Maithili lives on the traditional and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
