Thank you for your interest in the Biodiversity Campaigner position. In this stage, we’d like to give you the opportunity to tell us a little more about yourself, your experiences, and your perspectives on how we work to protect the Salish Sea.
Georgia Strait Alliance is learning to recognize the ways we have benefitted from and perpetuated white supremacy culture and colonialism in our sector and our organization. As a primarily white-led organization, we recognize our responsibility to interrogate and address harmful patterns in our work. We are committed to on-going organizational (un)learning, and look forward to the Biodiversity Campaigner joining us on this journey. We hope these questions will help us understand the unique perspectives you could bring to our team.
Due to the volume of qualified candidates in our process, we are asking each candidate to submit a short video responding to the questions listed below. Please keep your entire video to approximately 10 minutes, but don’t feel the need to fill that time if you’ve shared your stories in less time.
- We live and work on the unceded traditional territories of Indigenous people. Please tell us whose territory you live on and what your relationship to the area is (e.g. what does it mean to you to live where you do?)
- Environmental advocacy and education needs to be intersectional to be truly impactful and benefit everyone in communities on the South Coast of BC. What is your experience with intersectional environmentalism, and why is this approach important in this role and in our efforts to protect the Strait of Georgia and its adjoining waters.
- An integral part of GSA’s conservation efforts involves relationship building and working with a growing diversity of communities. Share with us an experience you had building new relationships or deepening relationships with a community of which you were not a member.
No fancy equipment required! We welcome you to use your smartphone, laptop, or other device to record your submission. You may submit your completed video by 9:00 am PST Tuesday, February 16th . Please include your first and last name as part of the video file name.
If you do not have access to a device capable of recording this video, or have trouble using this online form, please e-mail jobs@georgiastrait.org directly and we can make alternate arrangements.
